QUEEN’S PARK — Doug Ford appointed Michael Diamond, a PC Party insider, to chair the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which awards over $100 million in public money annually to community-based organizations. According to a CBC news report, Diamond is now the Director of Communications for Peter McKay’s federal Conservative leadership campaign. The NDP believes Ford now needs to ask Diamond to step down from the Trillium Foundation.
“The Ford Conservatives shouldn’t have a party insider chairing the Trillium Foundation’s board while also so engaged in party politics,” said Taras Natyshak, MPP for Essex and NDP critic for Ethics and Accountability. “Doug Ford should do the right thing and ask for Diamond’s immediate resignation from the board, and stop appointing PC insiders to run Ontario public services.”
