QUEEN’S PARK – In light of a photo of Doug Ford and Faith Goldy now being used in promotional materials for Goldy’s campaign for mayor of Toronto, NDP MPP Taras Natyshak issued the following statement:
“As Doug Ford knows, Faith Goldy is a neo-Nazi sympathizer. Yet, Ford posed for photos with Goldy just a few weeks ago, and now a photo of the two of them is being used on campaign advertising to promote Goldy’s campaign for mayor of Toronto.
Groups like the Canadian Anti-Hate Network are deeply concerned about Goldy, saying that they she is using ‘her mayoral run as a platform to spread hate.’ They have asked media and other candidates not to legitimize her campaign. Bell Media has refused to air Goldy’s advertisements, which they have said ‘contravene their standards’. Yet again today, Doug Ford refused to say he doesn’t endorse her mayoral campaign. He refused to demand that his photo and name be removed from Goldy campaign literature.
Faith Goldy stated this summer that that ‘Toronto shouldn’t be a suburb of Beijing.’ She has appeared on a neo-Nazi podcast. She calls diversity ‘white genocide’ and has publicly performed and defended the ’14 words’ white supremacy mission statement. She spews hate speech as often as she gets a chance.
And Goldy and her campaign of hate will continue to imply that she has the endorsement of Doug Ford if he doesn’t tell her to stop. Ford must unequivocally denounce Faith Goldy and her campaign for mayor, and apologize for appearing in a photo that is now being used as a de facto endorsement.”
