Located in Essex County, the riding of Essex encompasses several smaller municipalities including Amherstburg, Essex, Lakeshore, Lasalle, Kingsville, as well as Pelee Island. Bordered the by Lake Erie to the south and Lake St. Clair to the north, Essex County is home the southern-most point of Ontario – Point Pelee and Pelee Island.

Essex consists of rural and sub-urban communities.  The south shore along Lake Erie provides a micro-climate that has fostered a robust wine industry.  The north shore of Lake St. Clair is renowned for its recreational boating, and fishing opportunities.

The geography of Essex County gives area farmers one of the longest growing seasons in Canada. The region has become one of the country’s most important agricultural areas; with the largest greenhouse vegetable production in North America.

Essex County is on the doorstep of Canada’s largest trading partner in the United States.  Our access to air, water, rail and the busiest border crossing in North America puts Essex at the epicenter of the manufacturing, technology, and transportation industries.

Essex also hosts many historical sites that date back to the Underground Railroad, the War of 1812, and the Prohibition era when many bootleggers criss-crossed our shores.  This region is rich with many year round festivals, activities and attractions.
